제주특별자치도가 도민 일상 속 정원문화 확산과 세계적 정원도시 도약을 위해 본격적으로 나선다. 제주도는 7일 오후 2시 도청 한라홀에서 제주의 가치를 담은 정원, 세계 속 정원도시 실현을 위한 계획 수립 용역 착수보고회를 개최했다.
이번 용역은 총 1억 5,000만 원의 예산을 투입해 지난 4월 24일 착수했으며 12월까지 진행될 예정이다. 이 자리에서는 지난 3월 제주형 정원도시 조성을 위해 발주한『제주형 정원 기본계획 수립 및 대상지 타당성 조사』용역의 추진방향과 과업 수행계획을 공유하고, 전문가와 관계부서 등의 의견을 수렴했다.
건축 ‧ 공간 ‧ 녹지 관련부서 담당자와 전문가 자문위원단 등 20여 명이 참석했다. 용역의 주요 내용은 ▲정원도시 기본 구상 및 종합 마스터플랜 수립 ▲정원문화 진흥을 위한 세부 시행계획 수립 ▲정원 조성 대상지 선정 및 타당성 조사 등이다.
제주도는 이번 용역을 통해 도민들이 일상에서 정원을 쉽게 접할 수 있는 공간을 구상하고, 정원 앵커시설을 통해 정원문화 및 산업발전 플랫폼 운영 방안을 마련할 계획이다. 또한 향후 민관 거버넌스를 구성해 실효성 있고 지속가능한 정원문화 확산을 위한 협력체계를 구축할 방침이다.
강애숙 제주도 기후환경국장은 “제주형 정원도시 조성은 제주만의 독특한 자연환경과 생태적 가치를 정원이라는 공간에 담아내는 작업”이라며 “이를 통해 도시 경관을 새롭게 정비하고 도민 삶의 질을 높이는 동시에 세계적인 정원관광 명소로 발돋움할 수 있는 기반을 마련하겠다”고 강조했다.
